Cyclop-eeze
OK, I hear everyone raving about cyclop-eeze, but I have a few questions. First is, what do people feed with cyclop-eeze? Fish, corals, all of the above? Second, there seem to be all varieties from freeze-dried to frozen to liquid supplements with the stuff. What do you use for what? Obviously, the flakes are for the fishes, but it looks like one of the freeze-dried varients is just some type of powder (it's hard to tell from the picture). Do you add that directly to the tank? As for the liquid supplements that contain cyclop-eeze, is that used like Selcon? Unfortunately, the info I've found on it thus far has been kind of vague.

I've found the flakes ("wafers" in their terminology) to be useless...they really float unless you pre-soak them. The dried ones are also prone to floating.
The frozen seems to work well...thaw it in a small amount of RO water, add whatever phytoplankton you like and then pour it in. It is primarily for corals...these are very tiny little critters. The fish will definitely try to get as much as they can, but it is very, very tiny and quickly disperses throughout the tank. Sorry, I haven't seen/used any liquid food that contains Cyclop-eeze.

I've also used the frozen and dried(not wafers) small like the frozen. I will put a small pich size spoon in some of my top-off water and stir it up a little bit to soak the small particles and then poar it in the tank ( same way for the frozen, helps to thay it). The small particles are floating through out the tank now and the corals as well as the fish take it in

my lfs swears by cyclo-peeze. I bought some and my fish go APE over it. Like artful-dodger said, they're very small and it takes a lot to feed your fish with it; probably most of it ends up in the substrate and filters. I think the biggest benefit is to the inverts and coral. I bought frozen and just hold the stick in the water and let it melt off into the water. Don't hold it in there for too long, though.

Cool, thanks for the info. Do you turn off your skimmer and/or filters when you use the stuff? I think the small size may actually be pretty good for my wrasse. He's a pretty small guy and has a hard time with mysis. Not to mention he's severely outmatched by my tang and my maroon, so he has a hard enough time getting to the stuff before they do. Also, are there any problems with the freeze dried stuff releasing nitrates since it sounds like you guys let the stuff float around for awhile? I'd prefer to go with frozen, but unless my LFS starts selling it, it doesn't seem worth it to pay for overnight shipping to get it mail order.

no, probably not worth the shipping. It's not cheap, though. A little frozen stick that I bought was like 15 or 16 bucks. A little goes a long way, though.
