lfs and copper

I believe my lfs keeps a small amount of copper in their fish system water. How can I keep it out of my tank when gettin a new fish?

Ialways make it a practice to not get any of there water into my tanks no matter what LFS I get stuff from. I drip acc. them than net them. I always try to dripthe net off as much as possible being releasing it into my tank. I always pretty much drop it into the tank instead of putting the net in tank. Good luck Scott
