can you "overskim" too much?

hey, i was looking to upgrade my skimmer in my 45, and i had seen that lack of PE in sps, could be due to excessive skimming..... i have a excalibur skimmer right now and i religiously do 10% water changes weekly.... this is the skimmer i was going to get (the 65 gallon model). what do you guys think? Would that be too much skimming?

I have two percs, twinspot goby, bi-color blenny, and long nose hawkfish...thanks for the input guys...

For a HOB(Hang On Back) skimmer they get good reviews, with the occasional flood. I think they are best suited for a sump. If you still want it I would get this one instead:

would you reccommend that one because it is for a larger capacity? See, my problem is i dont have a big enough footprint in my sump for what that one requires... i can fit the 65 gallon model...do you think it would do the job?

There are hundreds of posts on this forum about tanks that have undersized skimmers. I have never read a post from anyone that complained about over skimming. I do not believe it's possible. I run an AquaC EV180 on a 75G tank, and do not think for a moment that it is too much.

They make some good in sump skimmers. I do not know the dimensions of your tank, so you'll need to look yourself.

would you happen to know maybe a rough estimate of the capacity rating for this one?

and i know asm skimmers are good, are they that much better than the coralife?

Definately less than what is meant for a 65. What if you used the Mini in the sump and the Excalibur HOB. There is nothing wrong with having two skimmers.

No problem. IMO the ASM is probably a better skimmer overall. Some report problems with "tweaking" the Corallife SS. The overflow problem is only a problem when they are HOB, not in sump.

i know ASM are comparable to Euro reefs, so even thought it might not be rated as high, quality might be better... i will probably go with that one.... thanks again Anemonebuff...
