triggers and stars

I unfortunately just lost my cleaner shrimp after almost two years with it. I've always wanted to get a trigger but not with my shrimp so now i'm looking to get one, but i want to be sure that it would not attack my starfish( green brittle and choco. chip)so can i keep them together?

I would think no. Because I think all triggers like to nip at things and will find a chocolate star very tempting.

I would keep Triggers in a Fish only or Fish with Live rock set up only and agree with mystikdragon7.

blue throats are one of the few triggers that can be kept in a reef although they may eat some shrimp or crabs. i do beleive they will leave your starfish alone. You should research this species more though.

Most triggers like to eat brittle stars in the wild.

Triggers are alos one of those fish that are a 50/50 chance, but most when young will be fine. But when they grwo and get intot here adult stages they can cause total terror in a reef tank.
I myself wouldnt risk it.

my 5" Niger Trigger is a model citizen (touch wood). He has not bothered anything,I have 2 cleaner shrimps,a dancing shrimp,2 sand sifting starfish, hermits, and snails.

My Eibl angelfish pecks at the starfish.
