When your first cycling a tank, lighting is optional. I left mine off until cycle tank was just about done.

I would stay betwen 78 to 80 degrees to cycle and after the cycle. Lighting should be cut back to help reduce algae during the cycle.

Bacteria will divide at just about any temperature. A few degrees here or there wont make much difference as it's exponential division once they get going. Room temp is fine.

So basically warmer temps help a little, but temp does not have much affect on the process of cycling.
I'll have my lights off for most of the day. Thanks!
