Using water from a f/w tank in a s/w tank?

I have a 48 gallon f/w planted tank. Because it is heavily planted, the levels of ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and phosphate are all typically 0. Would it be possible to take water from my f/w tank and use it to do water changes in the s/w tank? Or would other crap in the f/w muck up the s/w tank?

I probably will end up getting an RO unit eventually. Not now, because after dropping what I just did on this tank, I have precious little left over.

But I was curious if it's possible to "filter" tap water through a planted tank then use it in a reef tank.

Sure it's possible but not advisable in the least. Keep that stuff seperate, otherwise your just asking for problems

I would recommend against it.
