I think they will be fine and that shouldn't be too much light for them.
You might first place them on the bottom for a few days, then mid-point, then to the top. You can also check if they react to the light - if it's too much, they will shrivle a little or look like they are getting a sun burn or you can tell they just don't like it and move them. |

Good advise starseed. I have a colony of "green hairy mushrooms" thriving under 130w pc on a 37g.(near center of tank depth). If your concern is with too much light, I don't think that will be any problem. Unhappy shroom's also have a tendency to release and relocate at will. Be patient with your purchase and choose specimens with good/bright coloring, or perhaps a combo-rock of several different colors!

I was going to suggest that too - he he
The reds probably don't need as much light. I've seen some great mushroom tanks and it's great learning for when one want to go to the next level. I stuck with mushrooms for 2 years to give myself a learning curve in keeping fish and inverts together while maintaining good water quality. The mushrooms were very forgiving during my learning period - he he |

Glass yes - sand, not too well from what I've noticed.
Sometimes they will release from a rock and float around the tank and land somewehre else, but I've never seen one successfully live in sand. |

PC light usually isn't too harsh of light. I've seen the color fade out of mushrooms under MH's. You obviously don't want that. They've given you great advice.
Just a side note though. If it's the first time you're ordering mushrooms to be shipped to your door, be ready for anything. I've had success and failure. Zoos ship real easy because they can kind of protect themselves but sometimes they'll ship with not enough water in the bag and the mushrooms are out in the air too much. I've received them with some torn off the rock before. Some look like they'll make it and they don't. One will look like it's long gone and it survives. They look really shriveled up when you first take them out of the box. Mine haven't multiplied as fast as I thought they would either. They have grown quite a bit. But this has been my luck. I'll be praying for you. ![]() ![]() |

For me, that's a reason to keep checking water paramiters and environment - they tend to do that when they don't like where they are. That means one has to keep working on creating an ideal environment where they don't what to do that.
On the flip side - it could also mean they love the environment and are reproducing like crazy. I usually like to make sure it's the later and not because they aren't happy. |

FWIW, I've had great success ordering livestock from Vivid, and on the rare occasion there has been a problem they've honored their warranty without any problems.

I kept several species of mushrooms in a 10g with only 30w of light (2X15W NO). They LOVED the lower light. I have thought about setting up a similar setup for a "Shroom Only Tank"
