Unhappy high nitrates !

my tank is about 4 months old and every thing has been fine . well today i did my water tests and my nitrates are very high 10 almost 20 (nutrafin test) . i think this all revolves around a cyano out break that started last week or so . i wonder if the cyano is dying that i blow and stir off my sand and causing this to spike ? all other parameters are fine .i really need to know what to do about this cyano or is caused by my 4" dsb ( the only place where the cyano is growing not on my rock )im about to get rid of the sand and go bare bottom . ive been told by people i trust that you can use red slime remover or fresh water maracide to kill the cyano but im vert weary of adding such additivs to my system . what should i do ?

I would suck out the cyano during water changes and make sure your flow is good. You have a young tank sometimes it takes a little while to get it right.

i do a 10 % water change every week and i vac the cyano off the top of the sand and i did increase the flow from two maxi 600 to 1200 in my 65 plus the flow from my filter which is like 300 gph
