Birdsnest Coral

I am thinking about purchasing a birdsnest because i want a new coral. I was wondering if it would be able to go under a 4x65w pc fixture in a standard 55. On live aquaria it says it only requires 3 watts per gallon and i have about 4.75 wpg and all my params are good.

They need high lighting, watts per gallon doesnt mean jack. I'd rather have 2watts per gallon of MH then 10 watts per gallon of PC. With acros it's all about penetrating light.

I have a birdsnest under my 4x54w T5's and it has shown nice growth for the past few months. It might do okay under 260w of PC if it is near the bulbs (6") but I would also recommend T5 or MH if you expect to get any growth.

Shhhhh... Don't tell that to those people keeping them successfully under VHO's and PC's.

They seem to be fairlyl easy SPS to me. Mine grow like mad after they settled in. I have almost 1/4 Inch of growth this week on one of mine.

I have two of them and they are under PC lights. They are doing fine. Still pink color and growing. About 2 years now.

I bleached and killed my first frag of it. I put it too high up under T-5. Birdsnest is one of the few SPS that can do just fine under PC. You still need to keep very good water quality though.
