Green Wrasse in their reef?

Anybody ever have a Green Wrasse - Halichoeres chloropterus in their reef tank?

http://www.marinedepotlive.com/marin...--wrasses.html

Any problems?

unless you count the clams it eats
It was in my SPS tank, but I moved it into my softie tank

mine is a bit shy, it hid all the time untill I added more fish
for the first 9 months, I was the only one to see it

know-it-all - clams it eats. What types of clams does it eat? I've hear it can eat pyramid snails & bristle worms, but never heard clams. I am considering getting a Crocea. How is it with the small feather dusters?

after it decimated my crocea, I didn't get another clam until it was out of the tank.
I have since got 3 more clams for that tank, and all are at least 3 months old and growing

other than that, it was with:
2 blood shrimp
several small gobies
loads of small feather dusters/zoos
SPS
LPS
Softies
snails
hermit crabs

all with no incidents

but now that you mention it, I havn't seen any pyramid snails in a while

Are you sure it was the Wrasse? I saw a website say they are excellent for reef tanks with Clams because they eat the pyramid snails. I'm not trying to say your wrong, but did you see it eat the clam? Is it possible the pyramids got it?

yep, that's the same wrasse
yes I saw it eat the clam
perhaps the snails got to it first and the wrasse just finished it off
but I wasn't about to take that chance again

know-it-all: Here is a quote from LiveAquaria:

It will eat fireworms and pyramidellid snails protecting corals and clams. In addition, it may eat feather dusters, wild shrimp, tubeworms, and flatworms. Regular feedings should include a variety of prepared and live meaty foods such as feeder shrimps, flaked foods, and marine fish.

How big was the clam that you're wrasse ate? And how big was the wrasse? I'm just currious. And thanks again.

I'm glad I didn't see that one

the wrasse was about 3-4" and the clam was 3"
I asked if it would be reef safe before I bought it,
and they told me yes, and it may just be an individual preference.

old thread

but based on several accounts it appears that Halichoeres chloropterus will attack and eat healthy Tridacna clams.
