Seio Super Flow

What are your thoughts? I am pushing about 500 GPH through my sump, but want more flow in my 90 gallon tank. Thinking of getting a Seio 620.

I do want the a small pump that can auto change the flow direction. I hate seeing pumps and equiptment in my tank, so small is good.
Also, price is important too.

What other pumps do you have or plan to keep in the tank? Because the Seio 620 will not be enough for your tank alone. If you plan on replacing the pumps with the Seio you may want to plan on about three of the 820's.

I just have the returns from my sump. Its been this way for a year and I have had no problems. i resently reduced the flow down to about 500 GPH because I rebuilt my sump to add room for a small refuge for some Chaeto.

I have one of the 620's and two of the 820's and I do not like the flow from the 620 it is just not very much and I know they are a more broad flow pump but IME the 620 does not push enough, do not let the gph fool you because they are a broad flow they will not blow like your 500gph return

Ok. Why do I see everyone taking the 160 degree flow rotator off adn mounting the pump "Tunze style"?

Is the flow rotator garbage? That was the main selling point for me. I would be able to put one pump in my tank and have the flow rotate.

i would def. take it apart to make it "tunze" style... you just get more coverage this way....the flow is more spread out..... i run a 820 on my 45 cube, and im probably going to get another... i like them, they can sometimes stick when you unplug and then plug them back in, but i would say they are a decent alternative to the tunze....not anywhere in the same class, but decent considering they are only a fraction of the price....for you i would at least go 1100 or 1500, JMO

I did not remove mine, I like the way they look, I did remove the flow adjuster inside(a plastic rotating piece), because I want max flow and it gets debris trapped and slows the flow

I noticed you called the flow controll part a flow rotator. Just in case you didnt know, it doesnt rotate or anything... it just lets you adjust how uch flow.
Sorry if that was already obvious.

Just tagging along. I have a 620 in my current tank and I want to make it "tunze" style. Can someone link me to a guide? I saw this one "DIY" Seio MOD but I think it was MORE than just a simple tunze style mod because it involved drilling.

I am running 2-620's in my 75 and really like them.

The "Tunze" mod is simply removing the directional nozzle and outer casing that goes around the nozzle.

I have two 820's on my 90. I have had them for over a year and on a wavemaker. No problems. They do make quite a bit of noise on starup though. Just for a split second. I know your not supposed to run them on a wavemaker, but for the price point, who cares?
