Which pump would you have bought?

I'm making a sump for my 20g out of a 10g glass aquarium. After some thought, I just purchased a mag 5 from marinedepot to be my return pump. Now, after making the purchase and second-guessing myself, should I have gone for the mag 7 instead and just bought a ball valve?

IMO a ball valve is not a good way to restrict flow because it creates back preasure that may harm the pump in the long run.

I use a Mag 5 as a return on my 58 and it provides good flow.
