has anyone run an Eheim pump on remora Pro

I was considering running an eheim pump on my remora pro skimmer. currently I have a mag 3 and but I wanted to upgrade the pump and I have heard that mag 5 and 7 can be loud. eheim has a 600 GPH pump and a 300 GPH pump, has anyone tried them on the remora pro. I currently have a eheim 1260 for my return and feel it would be too much for the skimmer but the next size down is around 300 GPH and I don't know that it would be an upgrade from what I already have.

I heard that the guys at AquaC were running some Eheim pumps on their skimmers at the shop. You might try contacting them to see what they say. However, the Eheims are relatively large pumps, do you really want it dangling in your tank?

The eheims are expensive. You could probably buy a much better skimmer if you sold the remora and added it to the price.

I have the remora pro hanging on my sump in the tank drain area. With the space I have to work with the remora pro hanging on the side is a great fit so any new skimmer I got could not be much longer, wider or taller than the remora pro.

well, the pro uses a mag 350gph, that eheim is probably pretty close at 300 but you have issue of size,
maybe the eheim universal 1000, is right at 300 as well, and smaller and variable, but then it doesn't have a good head rating.
mj1200 is rated 295 but doesnt' come close to a mag3.
the 1250 eheim isn't very expensive, it and the mag is close in price actually.
mags prices went up.

Hard to say. I'm sure the 1250 would handily outperform the Mag3, but it may be too much. The Eheim handles head MUCH better than the Mag, so it is a good pump for a spray injection skimmer. The Eheim is a big pump physically, and would only be good for an in sump setup like you are thinking.

If it is too much, you could out a gate valve on it and dial it back a little.
