The best controller

What is the best controller on the market? Is the reefkeeper 2 on the same level as neptunes highest end product?

IMO neptunes are much better products. They offer a lot more flexability with there programing. And in general more expandable.

With that being said I own a RK 1. I really enjoy it it, it does everything I want it to do. And with a benifit cost ratio in mind. I think the reefkeeper may be the best value for the buck out there.

The RK2's and the AquaController Jr's are on the same level. There is a variance in controllability and functionality as far as data logging goes but for the most part they are on the same playing field.

Now the AC II, III and III Pro's are on a COMPLETELY seperate playing field then any Digital Aquatics product out there, these are intended for the serious/hardcore enthusiast who enjoys complete automation and all that good jazz. I'm getting ready to order an ACIII setup, ethernet port with embedded telnet and http server which is nice along with a serial port for firmware upgrades. Can control upwards of 30 items I believe (somewhere in the vacinity) and can do all kinds of interesting stuff.

Check more details out at www.neptunesys.com

yup--- go with a neptune 2 or 3

The aqua junior is still more flexible then the reefkeeper 2...

Every socket can be programed to turn on or off independent of each other. The reefkeeper 2 cannot do this.

For example the reefkeeper 2 in "feed mode" will turn off the outlets you specify for the SAME length of time (ie 20 minutes).

While the aqua junior can shut off any outlet or outlets for any length of time (ie socket #1 off 20 minutes, socket number 2 off 30 minutes, socket #3 off 1 minute, etc)

This could be problem with the reefkeepr 2 --- if say you wanted the skimmer off for an hour (say after dosing phyoto) but you wanted one or two or all powerheads back on after only 20 minutes... The aqua junior can do this and things like this easily...

That is just one example... The aqua junior is just more flexible... Which i prefer-- I can change things quickly and i can control things the way i want....

They will both do roughly the same things... But the Aqua Junior is also CHEAPER too.

www.aquatronica.com

I think the Aquatronica controllers are worth looking at.

ethompson

I'm researching controllers for the best fit for my tank too.
