Yellow Tang is not eating any suggestions?

My new Yellow Tang is not eating any suggestions?

I've tried my whole supply of foods. Frozen Formula 1 & 2, Brine Shrimp, and a couple others not sure of the name off hand. Local fish store suggested trying Kent xtreme garlic which I did with no luck. Going on one week now and the thing is really starting to get skinny. Its a smaller one, maybe 2" big. I always see him nipping at my rock, like he's trying to eat algae off it, but swims right past my food.

Nori: Dried seaweed. Sold in sheets. Can be found in asian markets and many grocery stores. Pretty cheap and should be the staple of a herbivorous tangs diet, if fresh macro is unavailable.

Seems like your problem is your trying to feed meaty foods to a vegetarian. Not that they wont eat them, usually, but it's second choice for a yellow.

Do you have a fuge with macro? If so, harvest a small amount, rubberband it to some lr rubble, and drop it in with the tang. If anything will entice it to eat, live macro will do it.

That'll do in a pinch, but you shouldn't make it a habit of feeding terrestrial greens.

Have you tried soaking the prepared foods (brine, krill, mysis, etc) in garlic juice? It's the same idea as Kent Xtreme, but cheaper. Just give everything a shot.

Lettuce is okay short term, but seaweed is what the YT needs. At the LFS, they should have Seaweed Selects or similar products such as from Julian Sprungs. Also, buy a clip to suction to the glass. You can rubberband it to rock to help entice fish, but the clips are more convenient. The YT should love the seaweed, especially if it's already looking for algae to eat. You can also find Nori (used for sushi) at an Asian foods store or in some grocery stores.

Good luck.
