Suggested turnover 4 a BB sump?

I just bought a 150G AGA RR tank with the dual mega flows. It will be SPS focused and BB. The over flows are capable of handling 1200 GPH total. I have a 1100GPH return and after head loss it will be around 900GPH. I can use that pump for my skimmer and get a new pump for the return or get a new pump for the return a use that pump for the skimmer.

Basically the question is this low flow sunp vs. high flow sump which is best?

Low flow say 400 GPH would save some electricity and I was considering convert the skimmer to recirc but I don't know.

High flow would have the advantage or getting more of the detritus over the overflow especially if the megaflows. The BB "poop loop" is better. I can't cram 900 gph thru the skimmer but I could setup up a filter sock up and change it out.

what do you think is best?

From what I have read and done on my 125 with a 30 DIY sump, the sump turnover should be a round 4 times your display. Then with additional powerheads or a closed loop the turnover in the display should be any where from 10 to 15 times depending on what your going to propagate.

Current Tank Info: 125 with 30 sump, two 58's with 20 sumps. 55, two 30's.

Check out this thread too. The main thing is not to confuse circulation thru your sump with movement in your display tank. I have a ER skimmer that runs at 350GPh. My return pump runs at 700 GPH. So I have a bypass to bring some of the return back to the entry of the sump. Now in the Display I have two SEIO 820's which gives me around 14 times movement in the main tank.

Whatever you do, I think you want more flow going through your sump than going through your skimmer.

I am going for relatively lower flow in my 75g sump on my 120g. Its 1190 GPH, but it has 12' of head so it'll end up being 600ish GPH on a 4ft sump.
