in-sump skimmer stand
Any suggestions on how to make a stand for an in sump skimmer. I have a rubbermaid stock tank (100g) which is filled a bit more the 3/4 of the way to the top. Any suggestions on how to make a stand for a ETSS Reef Devil to get the output above the water line?
Thanks, David |

I used eggcrate to make an in-sump stand for my skimmer. Used three equal size pieces for the legs (one left, one center, one right) and one piece for the top and one piece for the bottom for stability. 5 pieces of eggcrate in all. Glued them all together with GE Silicone II Doors & Windows.

Go to Bed Bath and Beyond and see if you can find a bathroom organizer of the right height. I have a plastic bathroom tote thingie that works out perfectly. It's open on all 4 sides and the bottom so water moves around and it cost about 5 bucks. If you can't find the right size, look at the supermarket for a tupperware type thing. Drill holes on the sides and bottom.
Something like this , just be sure to take off the metal handle

I have used the bottom portion of a 5 gallon bucket. Drill some holes to allow the air to escape and water to circulate.

Use pvc for the legs and use eggcrate for the top.
