Reef Bone Filtration

Hi all, just thinking of setting another tank up with just Reef bones and no LR, will the reef bones act as filtration in the same way as LR?????
has anybody tried this?
I think it would look the business!! any comments?

tried a search but not working!

As far as the usual bacteria are concerned, yes. However, you will not have the same diversity of bacterial species, as well as the diversity of other organisms ('pods, worms, etc.).

Will it proccess the nitates in the same way as the rock or is it too dense to do this?
