Question about plumbing in a grow out syster. Please advise.
I would like to plumb in a grow out tank into my 30g in wall w/ 25g sump. The grow out system will me three to four feet below the sump. The tank I have has two bulkheads in the back top left and right corners. What is the best plumbing design to be careful of running a pump dry and overflowing. I was thinking about drilling a hole in the sump, with half the hole under the water line which is kept by a auto top off and have that gravity feed into the grow out tank. Then I was going to use a 90 degree elbow down about half way to the bottom of the tank and run a pump in line back up to the sump with a check valve so it does not siphon back into the grow out system. Does this sound good? So when I go to feed the tank, I just leave the pump of the grow out system on and then the water will just circulate between the sump and grow out tank. I would love some better or different ideas of how it can be done so I dont have water all over the floor if the power goes out.... Thanks Dave

If no one answers maybe try and post in the DIY forum or Coral Propogation. Those guys have some good ideas. I am no plumber so I should even try and answer.
