How to add a valve to trash can

Just wondering what parts are needed to add a ball valve to a trash can to make it possible to drain.

I have all the parts except the part that will actually connect to the trash can.

All suggestions welcome.

i wold use a bulkhead, they make some for curved surfaces, or a regular one for the bottom of it.

you can use a regular one on the side without any problem (doesn't need to be curved)....
my home depo doesn't carry bulkheads, but you can get them at marine depot or numerous other online e-tailers

You can make your own bulkhead using grey pvc electrical conduit. You'll need a slip X male threaded and a slip X female threaded and a gasket. Then just screw it together.

The white pvc plumbing doesn't work because the threads are tapered and it won't snug down against the gasket.

Here's a pic of the grey pvc used as a bulkhead.

I bought my bulkhead at a local farm supply store. It is not curved and I put it on the side of a Brute trashcan, near the bottom. Works great.
