New and improved Sea Clone? worth it or not? any mods for this one?
Ok Im going nucking futz here. I need a quality skimmer for a 55g reef tank in the works. Is the new seaclone a definite improvement over the old. Dont mind doing a few mods if needed. I'd really like to build myself a good venturi cc skimmer but havent been able to find where I can find a venturi to add. Any ideas on how a guy can make one of his own. I believe from what I can deduce by looking at the valve that air is sucked into the valve at a bottle neck thru an opening to air when water is flowing past that opening. is this correct? From what Ive seen a skimmer doesnt look all that difficult to make. what would you reccomend for a pump and gph flow rate.
What are some other skimmers out there for 200 or under? either sump or hangon. thanks for the help and input.

I would always go in sump over hang on. If you have a sump, get an in sump skimmer.

Here's a couple of options for ya:
( prices according to premium aquatics website-may or may not be able to find cheaper elsewhere ) In-Sump Skimmer: ASM G-1X $201.95 AquaC Remora PRO Hang-On Skimmer: w/rio1400 $208.95 Coral Life Super Skimmer 220 $179.95 I think you would like any of those in terms of cost and performance. hope that helps. |
