I haven't seen my sixline wrasse in two days.
And he has missed a feeding as well. Should I assume he's dead
I can't find him. |

If you just put him in I would wait and see. Sometimes new fish can hide for several days. If he has been around awhile I would hunt around for a body.

Yes, I just put him in approx four days ago. After acclimation he was swimming through the rock structure pretty patiently, looked like he was doing good. The next day I didn't see him much, he came out and showed a peice of himself then went back into the rocks. Haven't seen him since.
I really hope he's ok I love that fish. |

keep looking, he could be getting bullied or just hiding. new fish almost always hide until they feel safe.

This happens all the time. A six-line wrasse loves rock work and caves. I would be willing to bet he is just hiding. Mine goes in and our of the rocks all day. When he gets hungry enough you will see him at feeding time.

Do you have power heads in your tank? Are they all running okay? I had a wrasse, he was doing great. Started bullying the Pygmy Angel. My wife found the wrasse sucked up into one of my maxijets. I learned that I need to have some type of guard to protect fish that swim close to them

Unfortunately, this also happened to us. Our sixline wrasse was introduced after a percula clown and a clown fairy wrasse were already established in the tank. The sixline went to hide under the clown's host anenome, so the clown started picking on it. Then, the clown fairy wrasse also chased it around for awhile. This only lasted about one day and then everything looked to be okay. Then, the third day after introduction, we couldn't find the wrasse anywhere. Unfortunately, the night of the fourth day we found his dead body laying on some live rock. What's more is we're not sure if the sixline died from being picked on, as that had diminished and he was eating, or if it was an internal parasite as the two other fish we purchased that day also died within the first 48 hours after introduction? I do hope that your sixline is just hiding as they are very neat, personable fish from my experience.

I have a feeling that might be the case bx1336. I just have some negative thoughts by it. I really HOPE that he is just hiding though!
I have a pretty tight canopy on my aquarium, he couldn't have jumped out. I really hope he's hiding. I love that fish. |

I lost one. Never found him either. Just flat out disappeared. No body, nothing.

All of the above is pretty sound advice Riptoad... my bf's been thru a couple of six lines... one jumped out of the tank (twice, he wasn't so lucky the second round), one was sucked into the powerhead, and one died a couple of days after we found him in a slime cacoon and we tried to get him out of it not knowing that they build them at night for protection (I think we stressed him out?)... they are sketchy little fish... beautiful, but sketchy.

I had a 6 line that did great. One day he came up missing. I eventually found part of his tail. The only thing that I could come up with is that he was killed by a hitchhiker stone crab. There had been one small one in my tank, that I think finally got big enough that he finally got him.

I've had a sixline for about 3 months now, and he does like to hide from time to time. I went on vacation a few weeks ago and had a friend come by and top-off/feed my tank a few times while I was gone. When I came back I could not find my sixline for a whole day. I searched all through the tank with flashlights and everything, but he was hidden very well. The next day I caught a glimpse of him swimming through the rocks, and then he came out at feeding time.
Yours very well may be hiding. How much rock do you have in your tank? I have about 120lbs in my 65...so it's packed, which doesn't help when you're looking for a small fish. |

Mine jump into my overflow box. I have no clue how to get him out yet. :P Oh well - I am going to keep him back there for a little while. He was picking on my mandarin fish. He's going into my work tank when I get a chance to re-do it.
