I got my unit with horizontal Di units. A friend has them vertical. I don't think that it really matters.

vertical is the best (gravity forces the water down and fills the container evenly

horizontial usually only the bottom half channels and a lot of the medai is wasted that is on the top

Vertical with a bottom up flow pattern is the optimum system.

He knows what he's talking about.
I just trashed (literally) my horizontal junk for a vertical.

Trashed as in removed and placed in the trash can where it belongs. Way to annoying to deal with to me.

Where can you get a veritcal DI chamber that feeds from the bottom? All the one's I can find feed from the top.

They feed from either direction, its all in how you plumb it. Look at www.purelyh2o.com, they seem to have the best price on an add on kit right now.

This one feeds bottom up? I have one of these canisters I use as an add-on second chamber for my calcium reactor, but to get it to feed from the bottom I had to add pipe going to a diffuser on the bottom.

The full size vertical DI canisters hold 24 oz of resin and the FD units come with 2 horizontal hollow tubes that hold 12 oz total I believe (the bulk refill bag is 18 oz and says it is for 3 refills). Not saying that merely more is better, but a gradual flow, from the bottom up through a larger amount of resin is more efficient, this is how the vertical DI canister refills are designed. Turning the hollow DI tube vertically will help, but it is still not the same.
