Turn it off and add more water to the cannister. The bubbles will subside.

ok, i turned it off and added more water and still have bubbles, so now i am going to use a good old wooden baseball bat on this piece of crap, this was the worst 60 buck's i have wasted, and it had the most short life span then any thing that i have put on or in my tank, brb have to go outside for this job.

LOL. Actually I love these filters. I've been running two of them non-stop for twelve years and they are both still working perfectly. Never had a hick up from either one.

Make sure that the orange gasket is seated well in the retainer of the lid when you put it on. Otherwise fill it to the rim with water one more time and let it run over night.

Every time I've had an air issue it was because the gasket was not seated right. Hang in there They really are durable.

yea, I just got one and I really like it. What type did you guys get. My is just the H.O.T. model but I was thinking while it was still new I should take it back and get the larger one. This one is rated for a 55 gal, but my tank is a 75. Do you guys like the hang on tank model or the larger one? Are they made the same just different sizes. and can you use diff types of filter media in them?

I have Magnum 350 deluxe, and love it. I use it on my 90 and depending on the tank conditions I run carbon or phosban in it. The only issue I ever had with it was the water polisher it came with. It clogged pretty quickly and the vacuum it created inside was intense. Other than that, very durable and really easy to maintain.

LOL, the water polisher did its job then. It is not designed to be run continuously. It runs until it is clogged, then you need to take it out and clean it. If it didn't clog, then that means it isn't pulling anything out.

The bubbles just mean that there is a leak somewhere, usually the gasket but also check the o-rings on the intake.

A magnum, HOT or 350 is indespensible for maintaining a tank. Great for sucking detritus out of the tank and the sump.

Marinland is a really great company that stands behind their products. If you really have a problem with it, give them a call.

I'm because my 330, which is 20-25 years old, has bitten the dust. It won't draw any more and Marineland has stopped making the parts...

Maybe the impeller... The motor runs but it won't pump out the water. I replaced the o-ring just because I had one but it didn't make a difference.

ok, I took mine back b/c it was missing some parts. If you guys where going to buy a new one for a 75 gallon tank which one would you get? I dont know if I want the one that comes with a bio-wheel b/c of high nitrates. Do you guys think these filters are making you nitrates any higher?

Do not get a biowheel for a reef tank. I use it only for maintenance, so I like my 350. I used to maintain other peoples tanks and would use it there too. I have about 10 feet of tubing so I can reach just about anywhere in a tank without moving the filter. If you are going to run it full time, I would get the HOT, so long as this is not your only means of flow. The HOT is easier to clean than the 350. The HOT runs at about 250 gph and doesn't hold quite as much carbon.

+1 for the HOT. I use them non stop on my FW tanks, then I use another for the polishing after a water change on my 450 and then I use it as the main filtration for my q-tank when I need it. It's versatile and easy to maintain. I don't think that it adds to the nitrates so long as you keep the maintenance up on it and not get lazy

IMO I'd say the orange gasket isn't seated well around the top. Before taking a swing at it, I'd check that gasket and maybe even try a thin coat of vaseline on it. I understand your frustration tho. I had similar feelings about a SeaClone skimmer. I took it outside too! Good luck.
