Raising Specific gravity level ?
Can I add salt directly to tank to raise my level from 1.018 to 1.023. And if so how oftern and how much to add to my 150 gal.each time.
Thanks

It's a lot easier to do a water change with a specific gravity that is higher then it is to add to the tank. If you add too much or it doesn't dissolve fast enough, it could land on corals and give them salt burns. It's just not a good idea to add it straight to the tank.

Gotcha....I guess I will make my change water to about 1.023 and eventually it will get to 1.023 after a few water changes

I would let the evaporation take care of it. This will allow your livestock to adjust slowly to the change. You'll have to add saltwater as your top off water until you get to the proper salinity that you want. I would mix the saltwater for your top off at 1.023 since that is your target.

I also would recommend not letting the SG change more than about 0.001 units every other day or so. Sudden changes can have very bad effects.
