I have one but it doesn't do that. It just goes around on the sand substrate and takes in and filters out the sand, leaving it wherever it happens to be. Maybe you have a male going into some breeding mode and it's making a "nest"

I got a Diamond Watchman Gobie a couple of weeks ago. I won him in a raffle. When I first put him in my tank, all I was was a sandstorm! He dug holes everywhere -- until he found the right place. Now he's calmed down, has his sand cave, filters sand, but doesn't create a strom, eats frozen mysis and bloodworms and is REALLY A JOY to have in the tank. He's shy, but fun to watch.
Give him a little time... Good luck. ![]()

My Diamond will pile sand up and then dig it out quite often. I think that they do it to remodle there holes. I have had mine for about 6 months and has never really hurt any thing. Seems to only pile for hole constrution. I would give him some time and see if he settles down. Be carefull if you rock work is not set on the tanks bottem and very solid. If you set you rock on top of the sand your new fish can topple you rock by digging under them. If the rock work falls it could break the glass and every thing will be lost. Good luck and these are really cool fish to watch work always moving.

I had mine for a week. Re-stacked some of my rock that he remodeled and twice it fell on the front of the tank. The second time he relocated some of the rock to the front i went to work with the net. Tore half the tank down before I cought him. I took him back to the LFS and gave him back. My rock work was just piled on top of the sand so it was easy for him to dig it up.
