ID with pic

hi, this green tube thing sprouted from my LR about 2 months ago and ive found a spot where a second one is growing now.
I remember seeing a post about something similar awhile back but cant find it now. any guesses would be awesome

It's a type of macroalgae or calcerous algae. Keep looking around--you might end up with a small crop of it. It can come and go or stay, depending on parameters and whatnot.

Neomeris annulata. calcium-based macro algae. harmless, may form a big patch over time.

found a pic on the web of a group of them. So another question i have is since it is a calcium based algae, does it have a tendancy to really suck up the calcium that im dosing into my tank???

I doubt they significantly deplete calcium. Removing them is really optional. They don't seem to pose any harm, nor spread quickly.
