Things that have scared you in this hobby?

As I was setting up my calcium reactor tonight, I thought to myself- other than dying from inhaling co2, what other fears did i have, directly related to the tank. Here's what i got so far.
Pls feel free and share your fears...
1. filling the tank with water for the first time, hoping the glass would hold up to the pressure.
2. hoping my electrical skills were up to par.
3. shocking myself on purpose until i found out what was leaking voltage into the tank.
4. fear of my wife finding out how much money it's all cost me.

I did some work in my 65g without gloves recently and something stung me horribly. No idea what it was - I was only touching rock, no corals - but I had itchy red bumps on my arm for two weeks. It scares me that something I can't see can cause such a reaction!

I also worry about water/salt creep getting onto the outlets and power bars behind the tanks or the power bars with built-in timers starting a fire; I try to be careful, but accidents happen and I've read too many threads about house fires not to worry.

When I was 7, I had a 5 gallon metal frame tank [metaframe]. I used to clean it in the back yard with a garden hose [the fish stayed indoors in a bucket]. I got too cocky and decided I didn't need to empty it all the way.
Wrong. I started down the steps, the water sloshed, throwing all the weight forward, and I came really close to reverse-flexing one knee, then the other, as I completed the two steps to the sidewalk, got to the grass and set the sucker down.
Scared the daylights out of me, not alone for fear of injury, but because I knew if I killed my knees, my folks wouldn't replace that tank.

I have my LFS triple bag all of my fish, coral, and other purchases. 1st bag is for the water and fish, ect. The 2nd bag is for for added protection and to write 9.99 on it. The 3rd bag is for him to write his correct price to check out. Then before going home 3rd bag comes off! Then I can say to my wife: See this Chevron tang was only 9.99. My fear is she finds out and dumps a gallon of bleach in my tank.

here's a couple more:
- mantis shrimp cracking the glass
- when turning off pumps to clean them, trying to figure out which ball valve i forgot to shut, as i watch the water level in my sump rise quickly.

oh these are good. i love the three bag idea!

and yeah, fish sickness scares the heck out of me. had to qt for a bacteria infection recently, i was so scared i was to inexperienced to keep qt running right

the unknown sting... might of been a bristle worm bristle, they lay around all over the tank and have a powerful bite

Foxface freaking out while I was putting some nori on a clip into the tank. Foxface shot to the bottom, then back up and out of the water right towards my face with all of his spines sticking out. Fortunately, he re-entered the water right at the edge of the tank. Have no idea what his problem was that day and he hasn't done it again since.

my boxer almost tipping my tank over from countless hours of stareing at the tank and then decideing that the glass wasn't going to stop her from trying to get a fish... LMAO it kind of funny to watch here sometimes when I'm watching TV. But it seems like the dog is more interested in the tank than my wife is... She thinks I spend to much money on the tank as it is... But what can you do... not go with her to the LFS so she doesn't find out the true price, She'll just see it on the bank statements, or on-line. LOL, But the dog thing is funny, almost thought the tank was going over once. Thank god it didn't, My downstairs neighbor wouldn't of liked that...

Yeah, that bothers me, too. Every couple of days I touch each cable to make sure that it isn't getting hot.

As a matter of fact, before I had an aquarium, I was pretty OCD when it came to turning every electrical device off when I left the house. So, when I got a tank, it was a major change for me to leave something running.

Tell you another one---reaching into the piranha tank to straighten out some fallen rock.

[He was really a rather shy fish---raised him from a 50 cent purchase, but boy, you wanted to know where he was while you were working!]

I've been startled a few times whilst vacuuming out my crushed coral substrate. I have a pair of clowns that are pretty cantankerous. The female comes and bites me while I'm busy vacuuming and if I don't see her coming it's kind of a shock.

cleaning my fish old tank which consisted of a wolf eel, a half-blind snowflake eel, a spiny puffer and a very large Lion Fish. That damn slowflake would hide in a barnacle cluster and any time my hand passed by he thought it was a meal and would take a quick leap and bite. I would find myself brushing up against the wolf eel with big teeth or right next to the Lion fish about to sting me. I had enough of that tank after about 6 months and 20-30 near misses and an elevated blood pressure. Most aggressive fish in my tank now is a yellow tang.

Once at work I had been handling mushrooms and zooanthids for about 20 minutes without gloves (I knew better than to do that, but I was in a rush). When I was finished I sat down at my desk and started getting hot flashes and blurred vision. The hand I'd been handling the polyps with the most even went numb. I was scared out of my mind for about 20 minutes, but then the flashes and numbness subsided.

Needless to say, even when I'm in a hurry, I always wear gloves now...

Things that scare me:

The tank crashing on top of me b/c of my old stand

The night I was rooting around in the dark and a crab latched on to my hand. I yanked my hand out and busted some light bulbs.
