Don't know about the thread but I've done it.
First you want to clean it thoroughly of any dead matter. Garden hose and a brush works fine for this. Next you immerse it in saltwater. Be sure to swish it around to remove any air pockets. Add some lr rubble and live sand to seed the rock and add circulation. Test, do waterchanges if there's ammonia, and wait... Some people use tubs or buckets and that works. Ideally you'd put it in the tank under the lighting it's going to receive. That way you can try out different aquascaping while you wait. In addition different species of coraline grow under different lighting. Even if you get some coralline in a dark tub it may not survive in a brightly lit tank.

That's It! That"s sounds too easy. What about smell, if i do it in the tank in my office is it going to stink up the whole house? Or do i tell my family, that smell is just nature at work!

How much rock are you looking at curing ?
Analternative is to do the first couple of weeks in the garage and then move it to clean water in the tank.

How long has it been out of a tank? If it is completely dry, I dont think recuring it will be too stinky.

2 weeks, it's been kept slighty moist in a trashcan with the lid on.
