Any one have pictures they can post of this type of xenia? Would be greatly appreciated. How fast do they grow also? Is it possible for them to over take a tank given the water parameters & lighting are good ?
Thanks for the input and pictures.

They grow fast in my tank, but I like it has I know of LFS that will give me store credit for the frags.
Here's a pic when I first got them. The colony I have now remains at about 25 heads with monthly fragging: ![]() They also usually grow better in dirty water (high nutrient levels). I have them in a tank with no protein skimmer, but as long as you seperate them on a mound of rocks, they can be contained fairly easily. |

Whats the best way to attach xenia to where you want too when you get them, & how hard is it to remove them without hurting them to be able to frag with my LFS or friends, when they start growing fast ???

You can use a rubberband (wrap around xenia to rock), netting (wrap over xenia and rock and rubberband or zip tie closed), or just put it on a rock in a small container so it doesn't get blown around.
I use two methods for fragging. I either put small rocks next to the colony and then the xenis will grow on the small rocks for easy picking. Otherwise, I have the rock with the colony next to my glass and they will grow on the glass. Once large enough, I scrap them off with a razor and use one of the methods over to attach them to a rock or shell. |

The xenia that I got the other day from a RC member, was loose, and I did that with the rubber band around them to some small pieces of rock, and just placed them on larger pieces... But they seemed to go to the small rock and the big rock... lol so I kinnda want to get the little rocks off of the big rocks, but may end up just leaving it cause I don't want to hurt the xenia. Thanks for the input though techigirl78
