I have a 100 G reef tank which I just got, filled it w/ aabout 60 pounds of live rock, and let it cure, I'm new to the hobby and have 7 fish in it (maroon clown, 4 engineer gobeys, hawk fish and a sailfin blenny) My friend said they are a good mix. I was cleaning the tank yesterday and noticed I have that real fine algae (hair algae) all over the place, even covering the sponges! Is there a way to get rid of the hair algae so that it doesn't bloom into a problem while keeping the sponges alive?
I have a ph meter and it stays around 8.2 I have very good lighting Thanks

![]() To Reef Central The algae need food to grow, so that's one point of attack. That's a somewhat light load of live rock for that many fish, so you might want to consider adding a refugium. Better skimming or less feeding might help as well.
