Exclamation Stray voltage

I just got a little shock tonight moving my tank to a new tank. Anyways it was a RIO 2500, I had heard on RC that a few people have had problems with those pumps.

Do you know if it was the pump itself, or a nick/crack in the electrical cord?

unplug the pump and stick your hand back in, do you still get shocked? I have had problems with rio's at the store I work at. and I know people that have been shocked by them in there own tanks.

I'd be careful about using myself as a testing device for current leaks. A ground probe and a GFCI would be safer. If the device was shocking me, I'd throw it away ASAP, or return it to the vendor.
