Velocity T4 Wearing Out?

Three days ago my T4 shut off automatically due to high temp. I couldn't even touch it it was so hot. I took it apart and cleaned everything and reinstalled it. It had only been 2 months since I cleaned it before but it had alot a calcium build up in it. After reinstalling it everything seemed to be working well. Then yesterday I noticed that my tank temp was at 81 degrees with the Metal Halides on. I turned a fan onto the T4 and within an hour the temp was back down to 79 degrees. Never had a problem like this before so does that mean it is wearing out? Thanks for any help!

Had the same pump about 4 years ago. Always runs extremely hot. Internal area calcifies so easily and needs to be cleaned often with vinegar. Quiet pump but not worth the heat it puts into the tank IMO. Only solution would be to swap out.

Is your ambient room temperature higher than it was before?

Did you clean the pump and housing fully?

I run 2 of these pumps, cleaning them every few months. I dose about 70ml each of randy's two part a day and run a tank temp of 82. I keep my alk at 12 or so and calcium in the high range. No problems here.

I cleaned both parts (housing and impellar) until they looked brand new. I have never been able to tell a rise in the temp of the tank before from the pump though. The thing that kind of makes me nervous is the ambient temp of our house has actually been lower than normal due to rain that has been falling for the past 2 days. Is it normal for the pump to feel hot though? Thanks again!

Yes the pumps feel hot.

The added humidity hinders the evap from the tank (cooling) and the convection cooling of the pump as well.
