seio 1500 mod question.

I have had 2 1500 for a little over a year now with little problem other than the need to clean and remove build up. well earlier this week while cleaning one I dropped the impellor shaft and it shattered. I substituted a 4mm stainless steel shaft. seems fine right now. do you thing this will make it more tolerant of a wave maker or timer?
thanks andy

i have never seen SS rust. but then again i dont make a common practice of submerging it in salwater.

sparks56 - All MaxiJet pumps have SS shafts.......they don't rust.

That said, some lower grades of SS will rust, so it depends on what grade SS was used to make the shaft you used.

not sure of the grade it is probably a so so grade it is the drive shaft of a RC boatGraupner GR1117. the nice thing is the impellors spin better now....

If it was a RC boat prop shaft I'll bet it will be fine. Just keep an eye on it every month or 2 when you clean the pump. Even a "cheap" grade SS won't rust very fast.
