Please help with ID

I posted this a couple days ago, was e-mailed that there were responses, but none showed up. I'll try again:

I've only got a couple small spots, but figured I'd take care of it while small, if need be. The maroon/red thing on the right is what I'm referring to.

Ok I will give an uneducated answer.
It looks like some sort of algae (very pretty by the way) if it is not fast growing I would leave it for a while but keep a close eye on it which Im sure you will.
Im sure somebody reading this will have a more accurate i.d but at least I will get you to the start of the forum again.
Good Luck

It is definitely an alga of some kind, perhaps a member of the Halymenia genus. Why are you worried about it? Diversity is what you should be striving for.

I have it too. It has never gotten out of control and it stays pretty stationary. I have had a few tangs they all love it, the rabbit fish ate it too. Emerald crabs may or may not eat it, I have 3 but have not really ever seen them eating this. Now without the tangs it tends to grow back. It's great for pods. It is some kind of macro algea, I say it's a good thing, in moderation. I have trimmed it, and when it has gotten large it will pull off easily in 1 big clump.
