feeding a cucumber

I bought a tiger tail sea cucumber about a month ago for my 29 gallon invert with live rock tank. He spent the first two weeks under the sand in the back of the tank, but for the past few days he has been wandering on the rock, and last night he was crawling on the glass as if he was eating the film on the top of the water.
I have about 2-3 inches of sand. 10# of base sand under ~25# of Aragalive "live sand". My parameters are nominal, I have a remora running 24/7, and I do about 20% water changes weekly. Other inhabitants are: 4 nassarius snails, 4 scarlet hermits, 8 turbos, an emerald crab, a cleaner shrimp and a peppermint shrimp (all critters are on the small side, and the cucumber is about 3-4 inches).

Is it possible he is running out of food? He has been keeping the hermit crab poop in check, and I don't notice him burrowing much anymore. Is his climbing the rock and glass a potential problem? Is there anything I should feed him?

Thanks.

its possible its running out of food. but mine used to spend a few days on the sand, then a few days on the rocks. it wouldnt stay on the glass long. sounds fairly normal to me. how long has the tank been going?
