green candycane coral placement

I just picked up a bright green candy cane coral from the LFS. Should it be placed at mid level or high up in the tank. The tank is 12gal with 150watt HQI.

i keep mine in the sand. i only have 260w of PC on a 75g. keep them on the bottom.
