The red stuff, or the white? The red stuff looks like cotton algae, which is one of 10,000 types, and I don't know much about it, but you might ask in the Algaes section. If its the white, I truly don't know, but anything that's spongy and most of all anything that grew practically overnight is likely to be an alga.
