I am a newbee and have been getting my H2O at the LFS. They told me to just top off with RO water. Can I top off with saltwater as well. If I buy 5 gal of SW or RO how long can I leave it sitting in the bucket. Do I need to put an airstone in the bucket for circulation.

Don't top off with saltwater...it will increase your salinity. You only evaporate the water in your tank, not the salt.

If you have a 80 Gallon tank right now, I think the 5 gallon RO/DI water will be gone in no time... I always double check my SG when I top off the tank just to make sure everything is good...
For me it was worth the xtra $120 or so to get my own RO/DI filter and make my own water, saves me time and money in the long run, especially on the bigger tanks...

Im planning on the RO/DI, just not in the budget right now. With the lights and size of the tank I can go through 5 gal in about 3 days or so
