Follow up on GE silicone II window and door used on my sump
Well all my corals are back to normal. I used some GE silicone II to place baffels in my sump and after adding the sump the corals in my tank were not looking so good. My finger leather and toadstool closed for nearly a week and the other corals were not open all the way. Now everything is back to normal. I am not sure what caused the reaction from the corals but I thought it may be from something in the silicone II. Everything is back to normal and doing well.

One of the main ingredients of silicone is isocyanate (same stuff in super glue). It is VERY toxic (bottle has a skull and crossbones on it, for real!). Another ingredient is acetic acid (vinegar). Although not as deadly as the isocyanate, it can cause some issues with your pH. Although the tube may say it is cured in a day, manufactures consider full cure 7-10 days (I used to work as an assistant chemist for a company that manufactured silicones for the automotive industry). I would pay the few extra bucks and get aquarium silicone.
