using a sterlite tub for a QT tank?

Well, my QT setup is 10 gallons.... which has served me fine so far... but I'm thinking its a bit on the small side to try and safely QT a tang in. Once I set up my 90, I'd rather not use my 29 as a QT because I don't want to put meds in it in the event I ever decide to use it again as a mini-reef or anything of the sort. So... without going out and buying another $65 tank to QT one $35 fish... can I go out and pick up something like a 35G sterilite "clear view" tub? I was looking at them in Target the other day, they're pretty see through, and while not quite aquarium glass, it appears they don't do too bad as far as letting you see in. I had thought about getting the fish (which I intend to buy in the 3-4" range) and putting it in a 10G for no more than 3 days, just to have a very clear view of it, then putting it in the bigger tub for further observation. Anyone tried something like this before? Can I just leave it in the 10G for a full 3 weeks (it doesn't sound too wise), any other suggested way to do it?

seems like it would work ok. The only possible problem I could see is if it's not see-through enough you could miss some more subtle illness that your new fish had...
