Skimmer stoped skimming...

Well i got my 20g tank swaped over to my new 50g tank. Everything is all setup and running good. Everyone survived the move and even found a few things i didnt know i had as well.

Issue no is my skimmer is no longer skimming!

Its a seaclone 100 that i have modified with a needle wheel, proper air valve and shortened reaction tube. It was skimming quite well on my 20g (cup a week). Now its been running for 2 weeks and has not skimmer a thing. I made sure it was at the same depth in the water as before, tuned ot good again to get the bubbles i want but still nothing....

Before you rag on it casue its a seaclone, it works mint. Ive filled a cup in a few hours before when i got some bad water from the beach. But its always been good to me until now.

How long has it been set up in the new tank? I modded my seaclone and get great results too so I won't rag on it although they are tempermental at times. Usually after a waterchange, mine will take a day to start skimming again.

Well since you have so much "new" water and not much waste has developed in your new tank, at this point there really isnt much to skim. This happened to me as well when I upsized my tank.

Current Tank Info: 150 gallon, 2 Hamilton 400w 14K Metal halide, Red Sea Berlin Skimmer (Don't scoff, it works well), 150-200 lbs LR, 50 lbs LS, 100 lbs Southdown...anything else?

Agree with the poster above.

Going from a 20g to a 50g is like doing a 60% water change, so you've effectively reduced your dissolved organic load.

That and i only have 2 very small false percs and a red scooter in there. Not like there is any kind of bio load on the tank. Running a fluval 404 as well, Ever since that was installed the skimmer production went down.
