Clowns

Hey everyone! As the category, I'm new the the hobby. I just picked up my used 29 gallon yesterday and got 3 percula's with it. Have them in a 10 gallon right now as i had to scrape off the purple stuff of the glass and clean out the tank and will be setting it up with brand new water and stuff. Anywho, my question is 1 how do you tell if they are male or female? and the other thing is one of my clowns had me worried last night as he/she was at the top of the tank floating on his/her side like it was dead and when the other would come near it, he/she would try to bite and push him to the bottom of the tank and then go right back up and play dead. The other two were fine. I checked on him first thing this morning as i got out of bed as i was worried and he seems fine and swimming about with the others. Also is it normal for them to stay in one corner by the heater all together instead of swimming around the tank? Thanks a lot. P.S: Anyone ever tried breeding clowns?

Yes its normal they will usually host a top corner or bottom of the tank if no other host is present ex. anemone. The will usually not stray to far from their host spot as well. Usually when they get use to their surroundings they will adventure out more.

How do i keep the purple stuff from growing on my glass? I don't mind it growing on the live rocks i have, but i don't want it on the glass, atleast not the front and sides. Do i just use the magnet every other day or something or is there's something else i can do?

3 mite not end up getting along.
The big one should turn into the female, if they are all the same size, you mite have constant fighting that could kill, because they will all fight to be the female then. The smaller one will become the male. im not sure about the 3rd one, like i said i dont think that 3 would get along.

o yah and the one that is floating on top, should be fine, just keep watching, clowns are very wierd swimmers and sleepers. but he bit the other fish because she is claiming her female position, so that one should become the female- thats the one will always bullys the male. the male will end up giving in and you will see him shiver, thats just him saying yes your the female basically

My tank is used they have been together in the same tank for about almost two years or so. I'm sure they will get along with eachother atleast for now. One of them is 1.5 inches, the other that was floating on side is almost 2 inches and the big one is 2.5 inch or so.

Is there anything I can do to to stop the purple stuff from growing on the glass? Maybe even let things in the live rock die out so nothing grows on it anymore?
