thanks
any suggestions as far as what fish/corals would look good/do good in this type setup? i'll be getting a 384 watt pc retrofit on friday, along w/a hob fuge, and a few scoops of livesand, and some chaeto...i think the guy was gonna give a bunch of other small stuff to...well i know he's givin me some brown polyps, mushrooms, and other polyps..very generous of him if i might say, as all i'm "buying" from him is the light..and for very cheap

I love star polyps, so i'm eventually gonna get some green stars, and i saw one at the lfs that looked kinda brownish purple? what one is that? i know it was a star polyp

thanks

what would you say the highest light coral would be that i can grow under 384 watts in a 55? i'm not really big on hard corals, but i might want some in the future (not soon i know)

thanks

You have a very nice start there, but are you going to be introducing some live rock? Looks like what you have is mostly coral skeletons. The live rock would do your system a lot of good as well as provide a better place for your live coral to attach. Plus the natural look is the way to go IMHO.

I will second the recommendation for Hammer corals, and I also love the Frogspawn. I think those will both do well with your lighting.

no its fiji live rock (mostly...theres some tonga branch too, and a bit of marshall but not much). It does kinda look like coral skeletons tho...well live rock IS mostly just a bunch of coral skeleton i guess, so that might be why...anyways, theres 30 lbs of live rock (the stuff that looks like skeletons) and then i got 30 of lace in there. But the live rock does have some pretty good growth and stuff on it.

thanks for the suggestions...i'll have to look into those 2 corals for down the road!

I like any coral that has motion to them. Hammer, xena, frogspawn and finger leathers

i have a white and green one, I have seen some pink ones also. They do grow fast mine has doubled in a little over a 2 month period. They are mounted high so they can not spread easley.
