1. use a live fish to cycle a tank.
Right way: use a pinch of fishfood a day instead

2. put a 'reef safe' treatment for ich into your tank...
Right way: Do not put any fish treatment into your tank: quarantine.

3. put a fish with an adult size of 18" into a 50 gallon tank.
Right way: Always base your stocking decisions on adult size.

4. buy a big cannister filter/a wet/dry filter/a filter, period.
Right way: Your live rock, sump and skimmer work better without 'help'.
Exception: some FOWLR tanks.
