An end all salt thread

I see so many "which salt do you use" threads and polls, and i'm getting tired of responding to them. So heres an idea. State which salt you use, and a brief reason why. Nothing else! Each member can do this (1 post per member), then maybe the mods will make it a sticky. So, I will start...

I use Tropic Marin Pro because my coral polyps extend further with it as opposed to other salts. Also, I don't have to use as many additives.

Instant Ocean. I believe they are one of the oldest manufacturers of salt mix out there (which to me means experience and they're doing something right to stay in business) and I've used it for 4 years w/out problems.

Instant Ocean. It's always worked great for me and the calcium readings are always where I want them to be.

Instant ocean because I dont hear people complain much about its quality. Also because Randy uses it(the chemist), who I trust.

Instant Ocean. Public aquariums use it, it mixes quickly and completely, and the price is reasonable - good enough for me!

Whiteshark - No one said you has to respond to them, and if you're so tired of them then why did you start another one. I've never seen quatative data on salt popularity, so that's why I started a poll. I also thought it would be a simple poll that everyone here could participate in. Thanks.

OC I bought a pallet of it on special. have had no problems, but will switch one of my systems as a trial. A couple of lfs have been using Pacific Coast, but again, there close, wholesale, and no shipping. I will tell you that his display tank grow's like crazy, just got some frags from it

Instant Ocean is low in Ca and Mg but high in Alk
Oceanic is high in Ca and Mg but low in Alk
So, I use each in a 50/50 mix and it's worked better than using either one alone.

IO reef crystals

mixes fast, LFS has good deals on it, might start mixing with oceanis for higher CA and MG

so you use a 50/50]

i got 5 gallon changes with 3 cups of water, makes my tank about 1.026, i might do 1.5 cups of each now!

thansk for the idea!

IO - what I first started with, nicely priced, been around for years, and as stated before, its used by a LOT of public aquariums.

Oceanic, because it was the cheapest my lsf had. Also mixes well and my fish and coral seem to be happy. When i run out though i will most likely switch to IO

i started with coralife brand salt 3 years ago, had no complaints, but my LFS stopped selling it so i switched to INSTANT OCEAN 1.5 years ago.. i also have no complaints with the IO. i just got rid of my reef tank, and when i get to TX, i think i will try TROPIC MARIN PRO on my new setup, simply becase i was born in MARIN County CA. "LOL"
