I skim wet so my water line is just at the bottom of the collection cup

I may be wrong, but I think that all becketts are designed to run the water level with about the bottom of the injector. Thats puts it at an inch or so above the black box.

If you want to skim wet, you want it higher of course.

The one thing that I wasn't clear on when I got my MyReef skimmer is that when talking about the water level that you initially set you you are talking about the water level with the air turned off and no bubbles in the column whatsoever.

Looking at the MR2 I would say 2-3" above the black box would be fine.

The one thing that I learned is that once you have the water level set you should leave it alone and use the air injector to set the "wetness" of the skimmate. The more open you go the wetter the skimmate will become. It is much easier and more precise to fiddle with the air valve then the gate valve.

Another trick that I like that nobody told me about was when you go to clean the collection cup, keep the pump on and just turn the air off to remove the cup. Then when the cup is replaced then just turn the air back to where it was (about 2.5 turns for me). In my experience when you turn the pump off it is much harder to reset your skimmer the the proper levels.

exactly..thats why I put risers on my becketts so I could raise the water column in the chamber to skim wet.......
