Closed Loop Pump Help
This isn't your typical closed loop question. I need to find a pump that easily plumbable. Not hard, right? Then, what's the catch? It needs to be a pump that does about 150-300 gph. It will be plumbed to a 2g Cube (8"x8"x8"). I thought about using a powerhead, but all the ones that I find either have a different sized inlet and outlet or is not easily plumbed. I'm looking for something like a miniature return pump that is easily plumbed with roughly the same inlet and outlet size. If a tiny Mag Drive is set up like the larger ones, I would just get that.
What are your thoughts and suggestions?

On closer inspection, I could do a Mag2 that is easily plumbed, but uses a whoppin' 24 watts! Or I can go with a MaxiJet 900 that would be difficult to plumb but uses a meager 8 watts.

Travis,
Pan World makes a pump that is rated at 288gph. The fittings are both 3/4" MPT. I myself have a Pan World pump and cannot say enough positive things about them. Custom Aquatics has the 288gph pump, click on the link and the look for this model: WP-PW30PX-T-115 http://www.customaquatic.com/customa...subcatID=wp-aq Good luck! |

Thanks for sharing the information and the link. But for $90.99, I think that is way too expensive. I would really have to be convinced to get the Mag2 for ~$35. But the ability to easily plumb it is quite convincing

Go for the Mag 2. You could plumb true unions into the mix to make the pump easily removable to clean.

You can also look for eheims if you want quality and easy removal for cleaning.

If noise isn't a factor, then the MAG2 is not a bad choice. But if you want to keep it quiet (ie if it is in an office or a bedroom) eheim and pan world are both extreamly quiet.
