coralline algae
Ok, I know coralline algae is a sign that my balance is good and I am not complaining, but is it normal to have to scrape it off the front and sides of the tank twice a week?
I see some pictures of tanks that seem to have very healthy corals, but those tanks have almost no coralline algae in them? what's up? |

YES, Coralline is nice looking on the rocks and even the back glass but it's a PITA on the sides and the front.

After reading the part of your post about tanks having healthy corals and low coralline, I wonder if it's possible that the corals are removing elements, better than coraline and thus inhibiting it's growth?

Yes, in the tank there is a constant struggle for nutrients. If one organizm outcompetes intake of a certain element in water, then it would be at the expence of other.
Another point, corals love strong lighting, but not the coralline algae. This could be the cause of low corraline growth. |
