HELP--Milky Water - Messss
So,
I get home from the Gym to see a cloud in my 95 gallon Tank. One of my powerheads that faces the back of the tank slipped off its rubber holders and was facing downwards. This caused a disturbance in my 4-5" sandbed. The bottom 3-4" of sand is very Fine and caused my tank to turn a milky color. I have white powder like sand all over my rocks. I tried to clean it up a little by taking a turkey baster and blowing off the sand but that did not work. Does not look like this sand is going to settle in the sandbed. ANy suggestions??? I need to clean this up. Thanks |

Do you have a sump? or a filter of some sort?

It'll clear up on its own in a few days, at most. I'd just ignore it. Otherwise, running a micron filter or something similar should help.

It will settle. The more nuisanceful thing is the disturbance of the layering of the sandbed, which traps noxious gases in its depths for slow release, and has bacteria to break up waste. Hopefully not all the sandbed was overturned, and it will settle.
Use a turkey baster to blow the dust off your rocks. Use a completely plastic one that's never been used for turkeys! ![]()
